The LINE INPUT statement returns a STRING keyboard entry by a program user.

Syntax: LINE INPUT [;] "display text or question", string_variable$

  • Requires ONE string variable to hold the entire entry.
  • Allows commas and quotation marks in the user input unlike INPUT.
  • Use a semicolon after LINE INPUT to use it on the bottom 2 SCREEN (statement) rows
  • Comma after the text displays nothing, but a comma or semicolon is required.
  • Pressing Enter ends the entry.
